Bill Snyder Highway half-marathon

1,000 runners descend on MHK each spring

5K race starts/finishes at Bill Snyder Family Stadium

May 20, 2017

As dawn breaks, runners gather near Exit 313 off Interstate 70. This stretch of road is called Bill Snyder Highway. The half-marathoners take off for 7 limbering miles, the last half mostly downhill as they reach the Kansas River, then breeze through Downtown Manhattan. A partial lap around City Park and quick nod to Johnny Kaw sends runners onward through Aggieville.

Once they reach K-State's breathtaking campus, glide past stately old Memorial Stadium and the venerated Mike Ahearn Field House, runners are starting for the final stretch.

There's one logical place to finish the Bill Snyder Highway half-marathon: triumphantly in front of the Coach Bill Snyder statue outside Bill Snyder Family Stadium. 2017 marks the third year for the race, and it continues to grow and attract runners from beyond the immediate region.
