  1. Duty First: 100 Years of the Big Red One

    Explore 100-year history of 1st Infantry Division, from Big Red One founding to present day. Exhibit displays exceptional history of the 1ID in Tallgrass Gallery; chronicles five heroic soldiers through WWI, WWII, Vietnam, Gulf Wars, Kosovo conflict and today's military. For children, Camp Funston "boot camp" where kids can "train" alongside Rags, 1ID's WWI pooch mascot.

  2. Craft Night: Mod Podge Coasters

    October 19, 2017, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM @ Manhattan Public Library

    Make creative coasters, as the library provides tiles, Mod Podge sealer, felt backing and colorful printouts. Personalize them; bring your own pictures (should be 4-inch-by-4-inch size to cover all but outer edge of the tile).

    Monthly USO No Dough Dinner moves off post to Manhattan for the first time. Military families invited to enjoy free meal in the mall.

  4. HOGtoberfest

    October 26, 2017, 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM @ Cox Bros. BBQ

    Fourth annual HOGtoberfest includes all the amenities: food, friends and fundraising; event to benefit Meadowlark Foundation's Good Samaritan fund. Food specials include $2 pulled pork sliders, pork slider lunch plate and evening hog roast buffet. Live polka music and German beer add to the Oktoberfest-feel and atmosphere. Cox Brothers BBQ donates 10 percent of day's proceeds to the fund.

    Plus, five local realtors compete in a HOG & Kisses Contest. The real estate broker or agent who receives the most votes (in dollars) will kiss a live pig at the event. Vote for your favorite candidate online or at the event.

  5. SPOOKtacular at Sunset Zoo

    Have your costume ready in advance of Halloween and trick-or-treat among the animals. Visit five candy trails sponsored by local businesses and non-profit organizations. Family-friendly activities throughout the zoo: costume contest, live animal encounters and pumpkin palooza inside Nature Exploration Center await each SPOOKtacular guest! Friends of the zoo members receive $1 discount for each child admission.
